The NAAMP websites describe how volunteers contribute their time to help states and the USGS to assess frog and toad population trends. Data are collected using a calling survey technique, in which volunteers identify local amphibian species by their unique breeding vocalizations or calls. The website includes interactive maps of data collected to date, organized by species and state, allowing students to better visualize population distribution. Students may also download data to create their own maps or analyses, such as comparing species or states.
