“New Moons for Pluto!” describes the discovery of Pluto’s second and third moons. Written before Pluto was reclassified as a dwarf planet and before these two moons were named, it provides a look into the nature of astronomical discovery. It could provide a jumping-off point for further writing as students extend the article with new information. An accompanying educator’s guide includes discussion questions and answers as well as definitions for key terms.
