This 5:59 video explains how scientists use astronomical units, or AUs, to measure large distances in space. It discusses what scientists learned about Jupiter as the New Horizons spacecraft used the gravity of the planet to help it continue on its journey to Pluto. This video was made shortly after New Horizons launched, but students can do additional research to find out about the close approach it made to Pluto in 2015.
