“Hubble Witnesses Fireworks from Comet Collision” describes NASA’s use of the Deep Impact spacecraft to find out more about what is under the surface of a comet. Scientists deliberately crashed part of the spacecraft into a comet to crack the surface of the comet and release material from below the surface. The Hubble Space Telescope captured images of the crash for scientists to study. An accompanying educator’s guide includes discussion questions and answers as well as definitions for key terms.
