This article describes the natural features of the Western Forests and Mountains ecoregion and how those features are affected by climate change. It focuses on the mountain pine beetle as an example of an organism that is affected by climate change and how changes in pine beetle populations, in turn, affect the forests. It also explains how student volunteers help to monitor the water quality in the region.
