This lesson provides information and two narrated slide shows to teach students about identifying genes that may make people more susceptible to addiction. By narrowing the focus to “candidate genes,” researchers can more quickly compare and identify genes involved in an addiction. The lesson explains the collaboration between a protein biochemist, a clinician, and a DNA analyst in this type of work.
