The “Build an Atom” resource is a lab simulation in which students explore atoms, ions, and elements. Students draw models of atoms/ions; identify elements on the periodic tables based on number of protons, electrons, and neutrons; and make predictions about the changes in atoms/ions based on changes to the number of protons, electrons, and neutrons. It includes a student handout. The accompanying simulation can be found here: https://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulation/build-an-atom
