This lesson plan is a set of four activities. The first activity has students listen to “No More Kings” and discuss the lyrics, focusing on the content of the song. The second activity has students review some or all of the complaints that the Colonies had against Great Britain using both primary resources and class discussion. The third activity is another song review, in which students listen to “Three-Ring Government” and discuss the lyrics, review information about the branches of government, and write a summary. Activity four puts the students into groups and students must match a document description with the particular action of the branch of government it corresponds to.
