Luminos is University of California Press’ new open access publishing program for monographs featuring the same high-standards for selection, peer-review, publication, and marketing as their traditional academic book/journal program. Luminos uses a transformative business model built with partnerships where costs and benefits are shared. As a result, monographs of scholarly research in the humanities and social sciences can be shared freely with a global audience, while authors’ rights to their works are protected by a Creative Commons license agreement.
