Learning how to manage time during the elementary school years will serve children well as they progress through school and eventually into the workplace. The best way to help students learn how to manage their time is by learning to keep track of it—everything from how long it takes them to eat breakfast, to getting ready for school, to the amount of time they spend playing video games, or playing outside with friends. This is often an eye opening exercise and gives the student insight as to how much time certain activities take, which activities can take less time, and which might need more time in order to achieve a healthy balance. This activity can also be incorporated before the first test when discussing study environment. Try our free Learning Time Management printable to foster discussion.
