This video shows NASA astronauts at Kitt Peak National Observatory as they search for exoplanets. Students learn how the two-meter telescope is calibrated to locate giant planets orbiting stars in far-off solar systems. They also learn how scientists use infrared waves to see “shadows” cast by planets as they move in front of their stars, an event known as a transit.
